The Challenge

It can be very hot and humid during summer times in Hong Kong, to ensure passengers' comfort, our client wish to supply chilled and dried air to the tramcar cabin at both terminus but an onboard air conditioning unit is not favourable due to power and payload consideration.

Our Solution

We designed, built, installed eight sets of air conditioning ducts to be docked with the underside of tramcars as they arrive at terminus, supplying conditioned air from AHU at terminus to the tramcar.

These Docking Devices featured floating flanges that dynamically align with the tramcar (which may roll as passengers board / alight). Multiple fail-safe features and sensors were used to ensure reliable operation.
